This paper presents the design and testing of a switching power supply for magnetron. It consists of a high voltage and high current switching power supply for magnetron in microwave and MCS-51 is used to control both voltage and current. At front part, the rectifier and filter circuit transforms an alternating voltage 220 volt 50 Hz to 311 volts DC. The direct current will be converted to high frequency pulse (about 31 kHz) by the power MOSFET as a part of half-bridge converter. TL 494 is then used to control switching for the entire frequency and pulse width range. The output part of circuit composes of a resonance circuit and the obtained output voltage varies with the adjustable signal frequency before resonant – circuit. For the high current operation, the same principle to the high voltage operation is applied. The output part however uses transformer to step down the voltage for the magnetron.
