Nowadays, The computer system called client/server system becomes important in application development. Because of its problem such as maintainability and limitation of computer’s performance the concept of 3-tier client/server architecture was introduced widely. The benefit of this architecture is using network bandwidth efficiency, reducing cost in maintenance and capability to manage distributed database. This thesis is concerned with analysis and design using object-oriented concept, developing 3-tier client/server application using COM (Component Object Model) technology and MTS (Microsoft Transaction Server) connected to Object-relational database management system (ORDBMS) such as Oracle 8.0.5. In this project we implemented an electronic commerce system to test how 3-tier client/server system work.
