This project was to design an apparatus for studying the process of fluidized-bed drying. This apparatus could be used to study the fluidization phenomenon occurred in column of 2-meter height and 10-centimeter inner diameter. The materials which were tested were corn, green gram, red-brown bean, and black bean. The efficiency of the fluidized-bed dryer in decreasing the moisture percentages (dry basis) of crop was studied. It is found from the experimental results that this dryer could decrease the moisture percentage (dry basis) of crop to the range of 8 to 12 percentage approximately. Furthermore, in each experiment, it is found that this dryer could be loaded about 425 to 530 grams of testing materials.
