SOLVING TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN BANGKOK

By considering historical traffic record, the main roads of inner central of Bangkok face serious traffic congestion, quantity of cars on road is more than 2,000 cars/hr, eventhough many approaches were implemented on this area. As a result, road pricing approaches were implemented on this area. As a result, road pricing approach shall be considered as another choice for traffic congestion relief, especially in developed countries. So objective of this research is to find the relationship between public attitude on acceptance road pricing system and factors influencin to their attitude.
By cosidering the quantity of traffic, pollution, financial and operation criteria, road pricing system should be implemented on inner central of Bangkok area, system area, that is area between Chaophaya River, Sathon Road, Witthayu Road, Ratchprarop Road, Ratchawithe Road, Rama VI Road and Lanluang Road. The survey was done by using questionnaire with random sampling for the people in Bangkok. Then the gathened data were analyzed by using kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Run test and Chi-square test. For the conclusion the factors influencing to their attitude are age, income, car using frequencies of entering in system area and stress from traffic congestion. From the result of the public attitude survey, most of surveyed people agreed with applying road pricing system on system area.
